| Summary, etc. | The subject literature supports that patients with TraumaticBrain Injury (TBI) have a reduction in information processingspeed and that this may contribute to deficits in attention, ori-entation and executive functioning including a deficit in mentalflexibility, planning, self-monitoring, and problem solving. There-fore the aim of the present study was to remediate neuropsy-chological deficits of patients with TBI through neuro psycho -logical rehabilitation. Based upon a purposive sampling technique 10 patients withTBI falling within the age range of 20-40 years and fulfilling theinclusion and exclusion criteria were chosen from the All IndiaInstitute of Speech and Hearing, Mysuru, India. These patientswere assessed on the Luria Nebraska Neuropsychological Bat-tery for Adults. Based upon patient convenience, they were di-vided equally into an experimental and control group. Patientsin the experimental group were given neuropsychological reha-bilitation for 6 months. Brainwave-R and Talking Pen ware usedas a rehabilitative tool. The results reveal that patients with TBI have significant neu-ropsychological deficits related to verbal, visual & working mem-ory, visuo-spatial organization, arithmetic, spelling, writing, finemotor coordination and executive functioning. Also, neuropsy-chological rehabilitation was found effective in remediatingthese deficits but no significant improvement was found in motorwriting skills and complex verbal arithmetic.Neuropsychological rehabilitation is effective in the rehabilitatingof cognitive deficits in patients with TBI |
