This is a clinical diagnostic tool to assess speech perception in children with high-frequency hearing loss. The test consists of four equivalent lists of 25 monosyllabic words featuring high-frequency phonemes, specifically designed to be familiar to children as young as six years old. Scoring can be conducted at both the word and phoneme levels, allowing clinicians to either gauge overall perceptual difficulty or plan specific auditory training. By correlating results with a child’s pure tone average, this sensitive assessment helps identify subtle auditory deficits, refine hearing aid selection, or determine the need for cochlear implants.
