This test is useful for identifying the speech perceptual deficits in native Telugu speaking individuals with sloping high frequency hearing loss. This shall give a better estimate of the speech identification ability in communicative handicap compared to regular phonetically balanced word test. This could also be useful in the selection of amplification devices and auditory training of high frequency words.
