This is a clinical diagnostic tool to evaluate speech perception in native Telugu speakers with high-frequency hearing loss. The test features two bisyllabic and one trisyllabic word list containing phonemes with high-frequency energy concentrations, presented at 40 dB SL relative to the listener's speech recognition threshold. It is designed to provide a more accurate assessment of auditory deficits than standard word lists, which may overestimate the capabilities of individuals with sloping hearing configurations. By correlating results with an individual’s Pure Tone Average across 500 Hz to 4 kHz, clinicians can better identify subtle perception difficulties and refine the selection and fitting of hearing aids.
